It happened. Trump said the quiet part out loud. Time and time again, the sociopath occupying the White House has proven himself to be the threat to freedom and democracy conjured by our very worst fears, yet there is no revolution. Echoing another sentiment from the thread on Bluesky, we are frogs in a pot being slowly boiled to death.

And, of course, this relevant quote comes to mind:

When the Nazis came for the communists, I kept quiet;
I wasn't a communist.

When they came for the trade unionists, I kept quiet;
I wasn't a trade unionist.

When they locked up the Social Democrats, I kept quiet;
I wasn't a social democrat.

When they locked up the Jews, I kept quiet;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me, there was no one left to protest.
